on june 11, 2010 i was very fortunate and blessed to marry to the woman who has made me into a man who is comfortable loving, being loved, and expressing his love openly. my beautiful parents shaped me through my adolescent years, and lisa solidified the mold with her warmth and her endless capacity to love unconditionally. she is such a major component to my success in life and love, especially my photography, that i wrote a short extension of myself in an attempt to express my love for her. although all words feel inadequate, i stumble putting my heart on paper. i view photography like poetry, except the difference is when you capture the right moment, it becomes very autonomous.

your delicate fingers nest
between the spaces of my hand
and speak of safety and tenderness.
your eyes say wait,
but bring me closer to you.
as your eyes reveal passion,
i feel your lips
made of the sweet honey
mothered by the night.
as our bodies move closer,
i feel the familiarity of home
and my father telling me stories
of the love that will find me one day,
as he holds me high above my imagination,
like a trophy of dreams
made of the unborn memories, passion, and love.
together, with you,
i am home.

i would also like to share a poem that we chose to be read at our wedding ceremony, by pablo neruda. his beautiful words still ring true a year later...
“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this
way because I do not know any other way of loving but this,
in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand
upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that
when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
thank you for a wonderful year, lisa. people often say the first year of marriage is the hardest. while we had our moments trudging through this first year, we've also had moments that will live happily in my heart, always. what made the rough times all worthwhile was knowing i had you by my side, just in case i needed comfort and support, or a word of moral encouragement. it's not a job that just anyone can take on, another point that lets me know our souls were brought together even before we were particles of the unknown. i look forward to many, many more love-filled years together. you are always my favorite muse.
